Brazil’s biggest literary event, FLIP Paraty — what we have called the “perfect cocktail of caipirinhas, the beach, and world-class literature” — will have a UK pocket edition, called FlipSide, that will take place in Snape Maltings, on the East coast of the UK this year, October 4-6, as reported by Brazilian newspaper Folha de S. Paulo.

Liz Calder, co-founder of UK publisher Bloomsbury and founder of the Brazilian Flip, will coordinate the event, together with Louis Baum, John Christie and Genevieve Christie. No authors are yet confirmed, but FlipSide has the advantage of being a week prior to Frankfurt Book Fair, where 70 Brazilian authors are expected this year. Calder stated that the event will be a “celebration of Brazilian culture in the heart of England.” Brazilian poet Vinicius de Moraes and bossa nova musician Tom Jobim will be the “honored” authors, and the festival will be produced by publisher Full Circle, together with Paraty’s Flip team.
